Ulyana B. Lushchyk was born on 1st February 1964 in the doctor’s family in Ternopyl. She left the secondary school with a gold medal. Being a school-girl she had chosen her future profession to be a doctor like her father and mother. She prepared for this seriously and thoroughly. She came through everything in medicine from the beginning – being both a nurse and a hospital orderly.

In 1981-1988 she studied at Ternopyl Medical Institute. Being at school she was striving for scientific works, she was a winner of the biology competition. Studying at the Institute she became an active member of the student scientific group. In the student scientific group in the sub-faculty of nervous diseases at Ternopyl Medical Institute she performed 4 scientific studies of the investigation of the cerebral hemodynamics’ peculiarities and the influence of vasoactive drugs on the cerebral hemodynamics for patients with disturbances of the cerebral circulation. Several times she participated in student scientific conferences and became a diplomat of republic competitions of student scientific works. At that time she began to work and become familiar with the method of the ultrasound dopplerography (USDG) in extracranial arteries of the head.

In 1988-1989 after her graduation of the Medical Institute she took an internship on the base of the Podyl Central Regional Clinic in Kyiv. Then she worked as a divisional therapist, a neuropathologist in an ambulance, a doctor of functional diagnostics in a laboratory of pathophysiology of blood circulation in the Kyiv Research Institute of Clinical and Experimental Surgery, then in the Republic Centre of Mother and Child, in the Scientific and Methodical Centre “Georan”.

Several times she took extension courses of neurology in Kyiv Shupik Medical Academy of Post Graduate Education and on away cycles of Moscow Sechenov Medical Academy by the profession of neurology, epileptology, and functional diagnostics.

In 1994 she defended a thesis for getting a degree of Candidate of Medical Science.

She developed a quite new method of location and clinical interpretation of data from USDG and US-scanning of the arterial and venous beds in the head and neck during years 1990–1994.

In 1996 the Scientific and Methodical Centre of the Ultrasound Medical Diagnostics (SMCUSMD) “Istyna” was established. Its creation was caused by a need of development of new methods for ultrasound diagnostics. Here Ulyana Lushchyk has been a scientific leader and General Director.

Activity of the first in Ukraine private scientific medical centre was a proof of the fact that quick implementation of the up-to-date scientific achievements gives the possibility to increase number of patients who can be really treated right now. New diagnosing and treating methods connected with the use of very sensitive equipment (the Centre’s staff had 7 patients from this category) allow considering some pathological processes and ways of their correction from new point of view. Owing to this it is possible to return to life patient who were considered as non-perspective by all old canons in medical practice. The “Istyna”’s doctors have some certain achievements in treating patients suffering from such illnesses as long-term coma, multiple sclerosis, epi-syndrome, infantile cerebral paralysis, mental insufficiency, autism, arrest of the psycho-motor development etc.

The collective of “Istyna” prepared and issued some scientific studies that describe actual problems of the modern medicine.

In 1999 a scientific leader of the centre “Istyna” Ulyana B. Lushchyk defended a thesis for obtaining a degree of Doctor of Medicine.

In 2004 she became a winner of the Ukrainian rating of professional achievements “Leader of Ukraine”
